Get to know Mexico with little money

If you want to spend this summer in Mexico, but you have a small budget and you have in mind to visit uncrowded areas, we created the list of the top 5 most beautiful, cheap and little visited places in the country. We’re sure you’ll want to come back again!  

Tolantongo   

Whether it’s a visit for hours, a day trip or more, getting to know this spectacle of nature will leave you with your mouth open. This canyon is part of the Cardonal Municipality, the area is shared by two ejidos, the San Cristóbal ejido with the Grutas de Tolantongo Water Park and the La Mesa ejido with the La Gloria Water Park, one on each side of the canyon.      

Each of the ejidos limits its services to the side of the river where its tourist complex is located, they offer restaurants, with good options in price and variety of dishes, you will also find grocery stores, parking, camping spaces, rental of tents, dressing rooms, bathrooms and showers, sale of blankets, firewood, snacks, first contact medical service.      

Sayulita   

Renowned for its hippie atmosphere, this beautiful place in the Riviera Nayarit is a very good option to enjoy the beaches of the Pacific on a budget that can be adapted to all types of wallets. Walking through this Magical Town is a nice experience, both day and night, the places are very picturesque and you will also find music and dance shows, fire shows by street artists and more.    

This paradise chosen by surfers, has different beaches and places to rent boards and encourage you to challenge the waves; if you don’t know yet, you can take some lessons or take a paddleboard ride. The main beach offers a family atmosphere and Los Muertos beach is quieter.      

Tamasopo, a beauty within the Huasteca   

With imposing waterfalls, dreamy landscapes, pools to cool off, the Huasteca Potosina is among the must-see destinations in Mexico; although it can be something great to know it at once, Tamasopo can be an alternative to start enjoying this beautiful creation of nature. One of the main attractions are the Tamasopo Waterfalls, a set of waterfalls surrounded by a beautiful green and with turquoise blue waters, a paradise to discover.      

Merida   

Recognized as the American Capital of Culture on two occasions, this city invites you to enjoy various events that promote local culture and traditions; every week a complete agenda is scheduled with different free events such as Las Vaquerías, there are also musical events in different squares, the troubadours can be found in many places, the video mapping in the Cathedral is unmissable.  

An extra not to be missed are the free guided tours of the Paseo Montejo, on Sundays tour the bike routes and get to know the Santa Lucia neighborhood. If you want some beach, taking a truck to Progreso will be an experience you will like.      

Manzanillo   

Beautiful city that stands out for being one of the most important ports in the Pacific, is another of the cheap destinations to travel through Mexico. With a pleasant to hot climate all year round, this place is ideal to enjoy the beach, you can visit Boquita beach and Miramar beach in the Bay of Santiago and Las Brisas beach and La Audiencia beach, in the Bay of Manzanillo, there are also others, each with its charm; the good thing is that its waters are calm and you can relax and spend unique moments.
